Qualifications: Teacher Certification OR 64 College Hours and a 2.5 GPA OR
High School Diploma and 21 years of age
Reports To: School Principal and Director of Personnel
Physical Examination: Completed on a KDE Approved Form. Information will be provided by the Personnel Department.
Criminal Record Check: Pursuant to KRS 160.380, every new hire must complete a State and National background check. Your employment will be contingent upon a background record free of any information which, in the opinion of the school district, would have an adverse effect upon your ability to substitute teach.
Administrative Office of the Courts and a Child Abuse and Neglect Check background check must also be completed. Additional informatoin will be provided by the Personnel Department.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Report to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival at the school.
2. Maintain as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
3. Teach lesson plan outlined by the absent teacher.
4. Perform all extra duties for the absent teacher as required by the school administration. The extra duties may include supervising student arrival and dismissal, halls, breakfast, lunch, and special programs.
5. Meet and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
6. Maintain a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
7. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to safeguard the school furniture, instructional supplies, equipment, materials, and facilities.
8. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct student records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
9. Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
10. Contact the principal or the designated representative as soon as possible when the substitute teacher must be absent from school.
11. Remain at school during the entire school day unless excused by the principal or the designated representative for emergency reasons.
12. Participate in faculty meetings, team meetings, departmental meetings, committees, and the sponsorship of student co-curricular activities as assigned.
13. Report any unusual occurrence or event to the Principal immediately (bomb threat, thefts, child abuse, harassment, etc.)
14. Supervise students during in-class and out-of classroom activities during the assigned working day.
15. Administer group assessments in accordance with the district and school assessment program.
16. Successfully implement school and district emergency procedures in order to maintain student safety.
17. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of students and staff.
18. Adhere to the professional Codes of Ethics adopted by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board.
19. Administer health services to students as necessary including, but not limited to, the administration of medication; the operation, maintenance, or health care through the use of medical equipment; or the administration of clinical procedures.
20. Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations by interacting effectively with and demonstrating respect for the views, rights and contributions of parents, teachers and other school personnel.
21. Maintain appropriate professional appearance.
22. Act as a consistent positive public relations agent for school and district programs and activities.
23. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding individual students and their families.
24. Implement and adhere to all rules and regulations, policies, administrative guidelines, and directives as adopted by the Board of Education, Principal, Administrative Staff, Superintendent and School Based Decision Making Council.
25. Maintain acceptable personal attendance without repeated unexcused absences, tardiness, or absences without notification.
26. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Principal, Administrative Staff, Director of Personnel, or Superintendent of schools.
