Qualifications:  48 college hours, OR high school diploma and successful completion of the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment (KPA)

 

Reports To:  Building Principal 

 

 

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Instruct students in research and experiments in science, technology, engineering and math.  

  2. Effectively implement learning strategies, prompting procedures, and other systematic instructional procedures in school and non school settings.

  3. Assist teachers and other professionals with adapting learning materials and equipment to meet the needs of students with different abilities and learning styles or language backgrounds.

  4. Maintain computer lab(s) and computers within assigned lab(s).

  5. Assist the teachers with the integration of technology into the curriculum.

  6. Troubleshoot technology problems.

  7. Enroll students and print reports in student assessment software programs.

  8. Assist students in using student assessment software programs.

  9. Instruct students on the use of the Internet.

  10. Adhere to the District’s Technology Acceptable Use Policy.

  11. Educate students concerning the District’s Technology Acceptable Use Policy.

  12. Implement teacher developed plans or strategies to enhance the fluency, maintenance, and generalization of academic skills as directed.

  13. Perform routine clerical duties such as preparation of instructional materials; maintaining attendance, setting up student work areas; and operating video, computer, adaptive devices, and other technology devices and materials.

  14. Implement teacher-developed behavior plans and techniques that adhere to the laws, regulations and procedural safeguards concerning the management of student behaviors.

  15. Supervise students in academic and non academic settings as directed by the principal.

  16. Participate in professional development related to job responsibilities. 
  1. Supervise lunch, library, and/or playground activities of students as directed by the principal. 
  1. Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations by interacting effectively with and demonstrating respect for the views, rights and contributions of parents, teachers and other school personnel.
  1. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of students and staff.
  1. Administer health services to students as necessary including, but not limited to, the administration of medication; the operation, maintenance, or health care through the use of medical equipment; or the administration of clinical procedures.
  1. Maintain appropriate professional appearance. 
  1. Act as a consistent positive public relations agent for school and district programs and activities.
  1. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding individual students and their families.
  1. Implement and adhere to all rules and regulations, policies, administrative guidelines, and directives as adopted by the Board of Education, Principal, Administrative Staff, Superintendent and School Based Decision Making Council. 
  1. Maintain acceptable personal attendance without repeated unexcused absences, tardiness, absences without notification, or abuse of sick leave.
  1. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Supervising Teacher, Principal, Administrative Staff, or Superintendent of Schools.
