Qualifications:  High School Diploma - Preferred: 32 college hours, or experience in Daycare setting, or Child Development Associate (CDA) certification or similar 

 

Reports To:  Preschool Principal

 

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise, nurture and provide care of children enrolled in Daycare. 

  2. Assist in preparing food, feeding, serving meals and refreshments to children and regulate rest periods.

  3. Perform personal hygiene routines. Including but not limited to diapering, wiping hands, faces, and changing soiled clothing.

  4. Maintain a working knowledge of child care regulation and best practices. 

  5. Work collaboratively with other professionals with creating and implementing curriculum that promotes children’s physical, emotional, intellectual and social growth.

  6. Comfort children to promote emotional regulation. 

  7. Perform cleaning routines, including but not limited to sanitizing toys, tables, play equipment and classroom areas. 

  8. Maintain order within the classroom and facility by organizing and storing toys as directed by Administrative staff. 

  9. Perform clerical duties such as preparing instructional materials, tracking and maintaining health documentation, preparing parent and community communication, and maintaining compliance records.

  10. Work collaboratively with other professionals in modifying the learning environment to facilitate learning and manage behavior.

  11. Work collaboratively with other professionals in record keeping and monitoring student progress.

  12. Frequently lift children and classroom materials up to 50 pounds.

  13. Frequently walk, stand, reach, bend, stoops and crawl.

  14. Model and encourage respect and value for individual differences. 

  15. Participate in professional development/training related to job responsibilities. 
  1. Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations by interacting effectively with and demonstrating respect for the views, rights and contributions of parents, teachers and other school personnel.
  1. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of students and staff.

  2. Administer health services to students as necessary including, but not limited to, the administration of medication; the operation, maintenance, or health care through the use of medical equipment; or the administration of clinical procedures.
  1. Maintain appropriate professional appearance. 
  1. Act as a consistent positive public relations agent for school and district programs and activities.
  1. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding individual students and their families.
  1. Implement and adhere to all rules and regulations, policies, administrative guidelines, and directives as adopted by the Board of Education, Principal, Administrative Staff, and Superintendent.
  1. Maintain acceptable personal attendance without repeated unexcused absences, tardiness, absences without notification, or abuse of sick leave.
  1. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Principal, Administrative Staff, or Superintendent of Schools.
