7 hours per day

 

Qualifications:  48 college hours, OR high school diploma and successful completion of the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment (KPA)

 

Reports To:  Building Principal and Classroom Teacher

 

Performance Responsibilities:

 

1. Assist with planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate instructional program for three and four year children in the preschool program.

 

2. Assist with implementation of IEPs and monitoring progress of children with disabilities.

 

3. Assist with monitoring progress of all children utilizing the Work Sampling System.

 

4. Make home visits with the Preschool Teacher to the homes of the preschoolers.

 

5. Communicate with bus drivers regarding changes in transportation arrangements upon request.

 

6. Work cooperatively with other preschool staff and related service providers.

 

7. Assist the Head of the Preschool Department in planning and implementing parent involvement meetings throughout the year.

 

8. Assist in yearly Child Find efforts.

 

9. Maintain daily attendance records for preschool children.

 

10. Assist with personal hygiene needs of students which may require lifting of students.

 

11. Frequently lift 30-50 pounds.

 

12. Frequently walk, stand, reach, bend, stoop, and crawl.

 

13. Attend weekly preschool staff meeting to remain current regarding preschool issues.

 

14. Attend professional development sessions related to preschool.

 

15. Assist with keeping updated health records for children enrolled in preschool.

 

16. Assist with the ordering of supplies and materials for the preschool classroom.

 

17. Assist with systematic transition activities for children exiting preschool.

 

18. Assist in developmental skill screening for children entering preschool.

 

21. Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations by interacting effectively with and demonstrating respect for the views, rights and contributions of parents, teachers and other school personnel.

 

22. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of students and staff.

 

23. Administer health services to students as necessary including, but not limited to, the administration of medication; the operation, maintenance, or health care through the use of medical equipment; or the administration of clinical procedures.

 

24. Maintain appropriate professional appearance.

 

25. Act as a consistent positive public relations agent for school and district programs and activities.

 

26. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding individual students and their families.

 

27. Implement and adhere to all rules and regulations, policies, administrative guidelines, and directives as adopted by the Board of Education, Principal, Administrative Staff, Superintendent and School Based Decision Making Council.

 

28. Maintain acceptable personal attendance without repeated unexcused absences, tardiness, absences without notification, or abuse of sick leave.

 

29. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Preschool Teacher, Preschool Coordinator, Associate Superintendent, Principal, Administrative Staff, or Superintendent of Schools.
